The Royal Society Selects PCG to Provide North American Sales Representation

Cambridge, MA USA; London, UK January 16, 2007

Publishers Communication Group (PCG), the leading provider of research, sales and marketing services to scholarly and professional publishers, is pleased to announce that it has been selected to provide North American sales representation for The Royal Society. Under the terms of the new agreement, PCG will recruit and manage a salesperson to be based in the company’s Cambridge, MA offices, whose responsibilities will include representation of the Royal Society to its institutional customers in the United States and Canada. The service package encompasses management of the sales and marketing cycle of the Society’s 7 journals, supported by sales representation at conferences and within targeted academic, corporate and government libraries and consortia in North America.

Douglas Wright, General Manager of PCG, commented, “PCG has solid longstanding, industry-leading expertise in these institutional markets and we are pleased to be expanding the reach of such a prestigious international publisher. We look forward to using our experience to increase The Royal Society’s revenues, by raising their profile in the North American library markets and creating additional opportunities for corporations and government agencies to license their high-impact journals.”

Charles Lusty, Senior Manager, Publishing Operations at The Royal Society, described the new partnership as “an ideal way for us to achieve greater penetration in the US and Canadian markets. PCG has distinguished themselves in their ability to assist the development of a concrete sales strategy recognizing and addressing our needs. We are confident that their proven track record of managing sales staff on behalf of publishers, and their network of institutional contacts, will provide our sales representative with the appropriate knowledge to successfully sell our content.”

PCG is now actively recruiting a sales professional in North America to expedite the successful delivery of new business to The Royal Society, to ensure maintenance of existing sales, and to provide high-quality client service to its publishing partners.
