Publishers Communication Group (PCG) has strengthened its services in Latin America, with the appointment of Adiene Teixeira to manage and develop the company’s sales and customer support program in the region. PCG has been active for 10 years in countries across Latin America, including Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, Argentina and Peru. Adiene, based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will be responsible for growing business in these and other Latin American markets, on behalf of PCG’s prestigious client list, including BioOne, Nature Publishing Group, American Society for Microbiology, and The World Bank.
“At times like this, a prudent business investment is essential,” comments Douglas Wright, Executive Vice President, PCG, “and our research shows that, for scholarly publishers, Latin America remains a good prospect for growth. Our role is to minimise their investment and maximise the return on it, by enabling our publisher partners to benefit from the experience and expertise of local representation.”
“We chose PCG to look after our interests in Brazil following many years of working closely with them on a variety of sales and marketing initiatives,” adds Jim Hurtt, Sales Manager for the Americas at Nature Publishing Group. “Markets in Latin America have very distinct characteristics and we wanted guaranteed experience of more than just one corner of this diverse region. We also selected PCG for their uniquely personal service; they take extra care to be proactive in meeting our needs and they provide comprehensive, yet tailored, feedback that is invaluable to this important market for NPG.”
Adiene Teixeira joins PCG from EBSCO Brasil, where she served as regional sales manager with responsibility for the corporate, hospital, government, academic and society sectors. She will now represent PCG publisher partners, including BioOne, BBC Monitoring and the American Society of Microbiology, across Latin America. Adiene’s role will encompass business development, customer service (including the regular hands-on training that is mandated by consortia such as CAPES), and additional support services such as translation. Her experience and connections not only help PCG’s publisher partners to reach these powerful purchasing groups, but will further help PCG and its parent company Publishing Technology to build their presence in the region.
