BioOne and PCG expand marketing and sales partnership globally;
PCG appoints Jeff Downing as Global Marketing and Sales Director for BioOne

Cambridge, MA , October 1, 2008

BioOne, the non-profit collaborative of high-impact bioscience publications, and Publishers Communication Group (PCG), provider of research, sales and marketing services to scholarly and professional publishers, today announced the global expansion of their existing sales and marketing partnership. From January 1, 2009, PCG, which has been providing BioOne with North American sales and marketing services since September, will provide exclusive worldwide marketing, sales representation and library customer service for BioOne and its prestigious publishing partners.

Susan Skomal, BioOne's executive director and chief operating officer, explains BioOne’s decision to expand its relationship with PCG: "In this globalized era, we need our marketing, sales and customer service strategies to be consistently implemented such that local as well as regional preferences are acknowledged. We are pleased to have found a single partner that can provide this strategic service – globally-coordinated but nonetheless localized to reflect varying customer needs.  PCG truly understands BioOne’s mission.”

“This extended agreement with BioOne will see PCG build on its existing presence in a range of international markets including Latin America, China and Japan,” adds Douglas Wright, PCG's executive vice president. “I’m very pleased to have Jeff Downing lead this growing global team; his knowledge of BioOne’s products and expertise in unifying diverse business needs combine to ensure that we will scale our proven services effectively to deliver global success for BioOne.”

Jeff Downing, newly-appointed Global Marketing and Sales Director for BioOne, joins the PCG team from sister division Ingenta where he served as Library Services Director. He comments: “I’m looking forward to furthering BioOne’s collaboration with libraries throughout the world. We’re proud to be creating a global and coordinated support infrastructure for the valuable research in which BioOne’s publishing partners invest.” Jeff is now recruiting dedicated sales representatives in Europe and Latin America, and will deploy PCG’s extensive network of representative agents to serve other key growth markets.

BioOne and PCG are working together to ensure a smooth transition and wish to assure current subscribers that they will continue to receive uninterrupted access to the BioOne databases.  We encourage any existing or potential subscribers with questions or concerns to contact either PCG or BioOne for more information.
